How do you create a mailto link on a website?

Let's see how to create a mailto link (to an email address) and add it to your web page. To make this mailto link, which opens a new email, we will use the tools of the visual editor of the website builder, in particular the HTML option.

A "mailto" link lets visitors contact you by email with a simple click that opens their email software.

Add a mailto link with the visual editor

To insert a link to an email address, edit the page where you want the link to appear and type the text you want to use for your link in a visual editor. For example: Contact me

Then select your text to highlight it and click the link button in the editor's toolbar.

In the link window, choose the email link type. Then enter your email address in the field just below (see the video).

You can also insert a mailto link on an image.

When you add an image, set a custom link and paste:

mailto:youraddress@mail.com

as the link address (replace "youraddress@mail.com" with your email).

Insert a link to an email address in HTML

If you prefer to use HTML code, use the HTML editor on a page and paste the following code, making sure you replace the address "youraddress@mail.com" with your own:

<a href="mailto:youraddress@mail.com">Contact me!</a>

By adding classes, you can give your link the look of a button. For example:
