Hey David,

First Question: I've been considering the addition of a blog to my site, how much does Google actually favor this type of content?

One the most impactful aspects to SEO to up ranking in search engines is to provide pertinent up-to-date content to make the robots continue to visit and update your sites presence and position in Google. This can be done in multiple ways - not necessarily with a blog- yet we recommend a blog as you control the content, can cater the message to your audience so that your pertinence rises - For instance on your site you may want to Blog about the films to gain more of a following even though this is not quite in your niche, it will grab some visitors or you may choose to write a blog post for specific game tips or about a particularly challenging problem people are faced with in the game. Moreover it is easy to market these posts on social media, another major factor to your rank. If you are present on social media as well your credibility and site visitors tend to rise as well. For sites that have a framework that doesn't change often (for instance a Company site that presents its activity - but doesn't need to make updates often to their content as their activity stays the same over time - will need to find a way to update and create pertinent content - and a blog is a great platform to do so).

Second question : In Google Analytics, is it possible to view the search queries that actually lead new visitors to your website?

You should consider Google Search Console which gives detailed analysis of the search queries, clicks, average position, and CTR. If you do not have Search Console I recommend setting this up. Here is the page that will tell you more about search console and how to configure with your analytics account. https://support.google.com/analytics/topic/1308589?hl=en&ref_topic=3125765

Hope this helps and I am here for more questions.

Happy webbing,
Michelle from emyspot

I have a question. My site already shows up in google search results anywhere from 3rd to 10th position, but I would like to see that #1 spot. I've been considering the addition of a blog to my site, how much does Google actually favor this type of content? Another question that comes to mind... In Google Analytics, is it possible to view the search queries that actually lead new visitors to your website? I can find this info in Bing Analytics, but I can't find in in Google Analytics. Thanks & good work on these posts. It's useful info for those looking to better their position in search results :-)
